Ubombo Children’s Care Village Charity
UCCV is an orphanage and a charity in the Lebombo Mountains in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa that gives a home and education to children whose parents died of AIDS and either survived on their own on the street or were looked after by Grandparents or friends in overcrowded thatched huts with up to 15 other children who had been orphaned at a young age too.
Many of these vulnerable children are often victims of abuse, many didn't even have a name before they came to stay with Dawn, founder and manager of charity Ubombo Children’s Care Village.
Dawn Irons founded the Ubombo Children’s Care Village charity to give the abandoned, abused and sick children a safe and nurturing environment. She is determined and motivated to keep one going no matter what her challenges are as the well-being of the children is her first priority. Mama Dawn provides a variety of activities such as art, pottery, gardening as well as education.
UCCV is run by a private foundation and relies heavily on donors from across the world.
"Climb every mountain, you will get there and you will see the beautiful view. Stand up when you fall! Always be positive and expand your horizons. With patience, faith and hard work you can achieve your goals. You must take pleasure in seeing your project grow.”
Mama Dawn (Founder of UCCV)
