VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL 2024
During the week of August 12 – August 16, 2024, the United Church of Cape Vincent was bustling with children as they attended Vacation Bible School. As the children arrived sleepily around 8:30 am, it didn't take them long to begin singing and dancing around the sanctuary, as their sleepy quiet demeanor turned into wild excitement. After the beginning prayer, they were broken up into groups and made their rotation through the classes (crafts, games, lessons and snacks). They even learned about recycling. The day ended with more singing and dancing and a closing prayer before being picked up by parents at 11:30 am. We were blessed this year with enough volunteers to enable us to have VBS and are truly grateful for all who gave of their time and talents. We ended the week with a picnic for the whole family to join in on – hot dogs, chips and ice cream sundaes were enjoyed by all!
Each year at VBS, a local mission is chosen. We try to pick one that the children can relate to. This year the mission was to collect donations and purchase noise-canceling headsets for the classes at Bashaw Elementary School. After communicating with the school, it was determined that this was a very worthy endeavor, so the congregation of the United Church of Cape Vincent was invited to join the efforts of the VBS children and families in this mission. It was a great success!
The children really enjoyed attending VBS and I'm pretty sure the adults enjoyed it too! Vacation Bible School at the UCCV is always planned for the second full week in August – so mark your calendars for next year!!
Thank you to all the parents who shared their children with us to help make the week a success!
Headsets were delivered to the school as the mission of this summer's Vacation Bible School. Enough donations were collected to purchase 65 headsets! A huge thank you to the VBS parents and children, VBS staff and congregation of the United Church of Cape Vincent. After realizing the importance of this mission, people really embraced

After realizing the importance of this mission, people really embraced it and helped us surpass our goal, allowing us to benefit even more children than anticipated.
